Anchor Ranch

This paradise is situated in beautiful southern Oregon just eighty miles north of the California border. The average daytime summer temperatures range from 72 to 85 degrees. Because the ranch is in the banana belt the winters are mild with temperatures ranging into the sixties on a warm day.

Boarding and Related Charges

A monthly board charge of only $300 throughout the year provides the care for your horses. The board charge includes salt blocks, mineral and vitamin blocks, fly spray, carrots and apples from our ranch. Your horse will be groomed once a week. During the winter months the horses will receive grass and oat hay as well as alfalfa.

Extra charges will be any costs that your horse might incur for worming four times a year, vaccines, farrier and veterinarian charges. It is estimated that your horse will need trimming three times a year. You can figure about $275 per year unless you have vet costs.

Other Available Services

Blanketing charge $1.00 per day. Stalls with shavings $2.00 per night.

Grain, rice bran, beet pulp, A&M and corn oil all are available at the market price.

Full bath, shampoo, conditioners and coat spray $15.00.

There will be a horse cemetery on the property. The charge for this service will be our direct costs for the service.

We are exploring the possibility of placing pictures of your horse on a routine basis on our web site so you can see your friend in his retirement. More about this later as it develops.

Our goal is to give your horse the retirement life it so richly deserves.

The horses are able to graze all year long but are supplemented with hay in the winter. During heavy rains the horses are fed in the shelters.

All the pastures are a minimum of 60 acres that are in timothy, rye, New Zealand clover, orchard grass and fawn fescue plus others in small amounts.

A 16 stall barn is available for horses that need it and blanket service is available.

During the winter months, though the grass is still green the horses will be supplemented with hay. Because of the continuous presence of the grass, the horses do not become bored.

We will have a special feed program for those horses who have difficulty grazing. This will include ground alfalfa and molasses, rice bran, linseed meal, flax seed and corn oil.
